Pink sheep, pretty wash cloths and chunky shawls

What a week! How can it only be Monday?

This is just a short post because I’ve just finished my blog entry for the Hillarys Blinds Country Crafts Competition (see it here), and it was a whopping great long post with tons of photos. It’s so long I doubt the judges will even read it all, but I figured it was worth a try!

Mothers Day was yesterday so I can now post pictures of the things I made for my mum without spoiling the surprise!

Left to right: a poetry book "written by cats" called: I Could Pee on This; a candy-floss pink sheep ornament that I... um... customised? with a shawl and jewellery; and on the right a glass jar of wash cloths crocheted out of Lilys Sugar n Cream cotton.

Remember the ridiculous number of blankets I’m working on? Well, a while ago I decided the chunky one I was knitting in Stylecraft Weekender wasn’t worth continuing with. Its muted shades just couldn’tย compete with my beautifully colourful crochet blankets! So I frogged the squares I’d already completed and made not one but TWO shawls with the yarn, one for me and one for my mum! (You can find the free pattern here).

I’ve worn mine quite a lot so it’s already stretched out a bit, and I didn’t bother with the edging on the bottom. For my mum’s one I changed the edging to make it the scallops more pronounced. I prefer the colours in my one (I definitely wouldn’t wear the pink and cream) but Mum seamed pleased with hers. She might have just been trying to placate me though! I forgot the clocks went forward yesterday so I was all flustered when I turned up late to to our Mothers Day lunch at my parents house with my sister and her family. We still had a lovely meal though.

It was also Mr BAM’s birthday on Thursday, and I crocheted him this leather bracelet.

SONY DSCIt took quite a lot of leather thong but it turned out rather well!

Right, I’m definitely all blogged out for the day! I’m just going to link up to Handmade Monday at Handmade Harbour… and collapse in a heap on the sofa with my crochet!

I’ve got it down to three crochet blankets, but that doesn’t include all my other little makes… Nope. Can’t list them all. I’d be paralysed with fear that I’d never finish them!
