More crochet cosiness and a little birdie.

Last week I finally got around to finishing a pair of leg warmers I’d promised to the mother of one of my bestest friends in the world. I was a bit worried that summer would have arrived before I was done but as the intended reciprient lives up in the always chilly north I think she’ll be using them for a while yet!

I used this pattern by Dot Matthews (Bythehook) and once I got the hang of the lace pattern it was easy enough to follow. The only problem I had was with the cuffs at the bottom. I just couldn’t get the right number of rows joined onto the bottom edge, so I endeded up doing the ribbing separately and sewing it on afterwards. There were plenty of pictures with the instructions so it was probably just me! The yarn I used was Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice – Dusty Purple (146) and I used 2 x 100g.

I’ve hardly recovered from Easter Monday’s craft fair at the Albany (Lions) Hotel on the seafront in Eastbourne, and I have another one to prepare for this Saturday at the Friends Meeting House in Brighton in the uber-swanky Lanes! The Eastbourne fair had a lot of foot traffic but I didn’t make many sales, and I think part of the reason for that was that I wasn’t very outgoing that day. The cost of having a stall is much higher in Brighton so I need to make sure I’m really on the ball with my sales patter!

As usual I have a few new items for each fair. For the Albany (Lions) one I perfected my fan stitch tea cosy pattern.

I <3 crochet tea cosies so much!

I am still in the process of felting some new items for this weekend’s fair (I hope they dry in time!) so no pictures of those just yet. I have also made some more of my birdie brooches, which were one of the first items I designed myself!

I was so thrilled when I sold out of the first batch of these!

I just have time to check into HandmadeMonday and then it’s of to the dentist (again!) for what I hope will be the last visit in a while.

Wish me luck!

Oh my. I’ve seen some tea cozies before, but those are the prettiest I’ve seen! I love the bird too! Also, I’ve been meaning to make leg warmers myself, yours are stunning! Good color choice!

Love the Cosies!! — I should probably start making some myself… I keep getting asked whether I have any at the Christmas Fairs that I do!

A lot of people curled their lip and asked who on earh still uses tea cosies (actually we all do in my family!) but others were delighted that someone was still making them. I’ve already sold the blue one! 🙂
