Optimism and bobble hats on a rainy day

I’m feeling most uncharacteristically optimistic today. This comes as a huge surprise as I spent the morning at a craft fair where I failed to sell even one item! Considering the dismal wet weather, it didn’t really come as a shock that customers didn’t arrive in droves to the chilly little WI hall, but despite the lack of sales, I did enjoy myself!

Flower cushion, finished bunting and my first international order!

It was my eldest niece’s birthday this week and she was thrilled with the cushion I made her using Attic 24‘s Blooming Flower pattern based on a vintage pot holder design. I’d already made a pot holder using this technique for my mum (you can see it here),

Here’s my cushion.

This Blooming Flower cushion was a big hit on my niece’s birthday. In fact it was so popular that the birthday girl had to wrestle it out of the arms of various party guests! Looks like I’ll be making more of these for Christmas presents then…

Slowly stocking my online shops (Etsy and Folksy)

P1020392

I made these cute little felt pots weeks ago, but I’ve only just gotten around to adding them to my Etsy and Folksy shops.

I improvised rather than using any kind of pattern, crocheting the pots from felting wool I got on sale from Deramores . Some of it was Rico Design Creative Filz and some was Adriafil Crea. They felted up reasonably well in my front loading washing machine, and I hid the less well felted areas underneath the motifs I added for decoration. The hearts were the first real success I’ve had with needle felting, and I’m definitely going to be trying it again. As long as you keep your fingers away from the business end of the needle, the stabbing motion is very therapeutic!

More colours!

More colours!

I’ve posted more versions of my jug cover on both Folksy and Etsy now, and a few views are trickling in. No sales yet, but it’s early days and I still have more products to add.

I really like the blue jug cover, and I think I’ll make an extra one to keep!

I have made purple ones too, but I need to take new photos.
